Dorothy A. Smaretsky

Dorothy A. Smaretsky, 83, of Butler, beloved sister, aunt, great aunt and friend to many, went to live with the Lord Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born August 25, 1932 in Lyndora, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Eva (Matus) Smaretsky.

She enjoyed going out everyday for lunch and going on her monthly casino bus trips. She loving cared for each of her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews growing up, playing a large part in each of their lives.

She began her employment journey being a grocery store clerk at Mintz's Corner Store, then was employed as a cashier by Murphy Mart at the Butler Mall, finally retiring in 1994 from the Ames Department Store at the Butler Mall.

She will be sadly missed by her surviving family, her twin brother Michael (Barrie) Smaretsky Sr. and her sister whom she resided with, Kathryn Smaretsky. Also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Mary (John) Yellenik, Julie (John “Chap”) Chepelsky, Ann (Nicholas) Kosar, Helen (Walter) Moculski; 2 brothers, John (Helen) Smaretsky and Harry (Mary) Smaretsky; 3 nieces, Tamara (Smaretsky) Smith, Joann (Chepelsky) Burrelli, Donna Marie Chepelsky; 1 nephew, John (Butch) Yellenik.

There will not be a visitation. Burial will be held at the families discretion. Arrangements by the Geibel Funeral Home.
