Hubert R. "Hubie" Heitzer

Hubert R. “Hubie” Heitzer, 94, of East Butler, died Monday evening, November 28, 2016, in the comfort of his home.

Born June 27, 1922 in Butler, he was a son of the late Joseph M. Heitzer and Mary C. Mulraney Heitzer.

Hubie was a retired self-employed carpenter, was a member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher and bell ringer for many years and also belonged to the Holy Name Society. He was a life member of the R.C. Mens Club and the East Butler Firemans Club. He was an expert woodworker, craftsman, cabinet maker and was proud to have built his own home. He was an avid card player, was an expert archer and had been a well known pool player in the Butler area as he played in several leagues.

Surviving are his 3 sons: Tony Heitzer of Butler, Larry (Connie) Heitzer of Emlenton, Michael (Joyce) Heitzer of Butler.

7 daughters: Martha (John) West of Butler, Rosemary Heitzer of East Butler, Patty (Ed) Beck of Chicora, Rita (Jim) Pritts of Renfrew, Emily Heitzer of Evans City, Elizabeth (Jeff) Rosellini of Boyers, Theresa Heitzer of Applewold.

22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth J. “Betty” Sintz Heitzer, whom he married August 17, 1944, she died March 27, 2005; an infant daughter and son; 2 sisters, Mary Louise Heitzer and Loretta Heitzer; 1 brother, Joseph Heitzer; 1 great grandson, Keagan Peth; 1 daughter-in-law, Shirley Heitzer.

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, 210 St. Wendelin Road. The Rev. Matthew McClain, Pastor, will officiate. Internment will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
