Janet M. Barto, 89, of Butler, died Sunday afternoon, July 17, 2015, at the V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice, surrounded by her family.

 

Born April 18, 1927 in Butler, she was a daughter of the late William Reid Elder and Anna (Heathcote) Elder.

 

Janet graduated from Butler High School in 1945, was retired from Altmeyer's Home Store, where she had worked as Manager for 26. She was an avid walker, who loved to play bingo and take care of her great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Peter Anglican Church in Butler.

 

Surviving is her son, John Barto II, and his wife Sheila (Sipolla) Barto.

 

1 daughter, Judy Ann (Barto) Codispot, and her husband Michael Codispot.

 

1 sister, Beverly (Elder) Zavacky.

 

1 grandson, James Codispot, and his wife Julie (Michalek) Codispot.

 

2 granddaughters: Kim (Codispot) Frazier, and her husband Charles Frazier; Kelly (Codispot) Michalek, and her husband Daniel Michalek.

 

9 great grandchildren: Chelsea (Fitzpatrick) Perry, Ashlie Fitzpatrick, Michael Fitzpatrick, Taylor Codispot, David Michalek, twins John Michalek and Luke Michalek, Anna Michalek and Jack Codispot.

 

5 great great grandchildren: Micah, Greyson, Heston, Mason and Harlee.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Barto, whom she married July 6, 1946, he died February 2, 1989; an infant son; 1 brother, William Reid Elder, Jr; 3 sisters, Gloria, Ginny and Betty.

 

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m., at the Funeral Home.  The Rev. Glenn Crytzer of St. Peter Anglican Church, will officiate.
