John R. Zapp, Jr, 66, of Renfrew, died Wednesday morning, May 17, 2017, at his home.

Born December 11, 1950 in Butler, he was a son of Margaret Prementine Zapp and the late John R. Zapp.

John had worked as a school bus driver, was a member of the American Legion Post #778 in Lyndora and the Slovak Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing softball, bowling, watching hockey and football and spending time with his grandchildren.

John was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Navy.

Surviving is his mother, Margaret Zapp of Renfrew.

Sisters and brothers: Janet Neely of Butler; Sharon (Byron) McDonald of Manchester, TN; Carol (Ed) Butler of Butler; Richard Zapp, Sr. of Renfrew and Mary Zapp of Renfrew.

His daughter, Joelle Thorhauer of Renfrew.

3 grandsons: Riley, Elijah and Jonah.

His son, Jesse Cousins of Butler.

His former wife, Karen Zapp of Butler.

Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Zapp, a nephew, Edward Butler III and a brother-in-law, Fred Neely.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the American Legion Post #778 in Lyndora, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
