Joseph Leo Kisiel

Joseph Kisiel, 80, of Butler, PA, passed away Thursday, June 29 at Fairview Manor in Erie, PA after a brief illness.

 

Joe is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Elaine Kisiel of Butler, PA, his sister Sophie Haberman and brother Walter Kisiel. He is survived by his sons James Kisiel of Los Angeles, CA, William Kisiel and wife Jacquie of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Joseph Kisiel and wife Jeanne of Erie, Pa, grandsons Andrew and Nathan, granddaughter Emma also of Erie, PA, sister Lucy Mahdik and husband Edward of Natrona Heights, PA, brother Tommy Kisiel of Sarver, PA and Leonard Kisiel of Natrona Heights, PA as well as many close friends.

 

Born in Brackenridge, PA and raised in Sarver, PA the son of Leo and Bernice Kisiel, Joe attended Freeport High School. He graduated from Penn Technical Institute in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1960. He worked at Carnegie Mellon University, Nuclear Research Center, for 8 years. Joe was employed at American Glass Research of Butler, PA for over 30 years.

Some of Joe’s favorite activities included tending his garden, winning at pinochle, playing bocce with friends, spending time with his grandchildren, and rooting for his favorite teams: the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers, and Pirates.

Friends will be received Monday from 9-10 am at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St. Butler, PA 16001. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 am at the church.
