Marie E. Furka, 85, of Butler passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot.

Born July 27, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Poida) Peresie.

She had taught elementary education for 31 years for the Butler Area School District.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are a son, Thomas (Michelle) Furka of Chicora, a daughter, Judith Shuler of Butler.

5 grandchildren: David, Joseph, Jonathon, Jessica and her husband Bobby and Patricia.

Numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Furka who passed away March 28, 1994. They were married May 5, 1951. 1 sister and 3 brothers.

Private services were held for her family. Arrangements by Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA 16001.
