Sarah E. Furka

Sarah E. Furka, 88, of Butler, died Friday morning, April 21, 2017, at the Life Care Hospital in Natrona Heights.

Born June 7, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Mary A. Space.

Sarah was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She had formerly managed the concession stand at Pullman Park, had ran voting polls, belonged to card club, enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh sports teams, in her younger years had played softball and loved to play with her dog Chloe.

Surviving are her 3 children: Mary Ella (Michael) Metrick, Joseph (Pamela) Furka, Jr. and Robert (Raylene) Furka, all of Butler.

5 grandchildren: Michelle (Richard) Bartley, Michael J. (Lisa Hoffman) Metrick, Derek (Crissy) Furka, Courtney (Christopher) Windham and Dustin (Melissa) Furka.

6 great grandchildren: Sarah, Samantha, Chloe, Cameron, Bailey and Mason.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Furka, whom she married May 17, 1947, he died September 14, 2013; 1 brother, Glenn Space and 1 sister, Ella Lawrence.

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 North Main Street Ext. The Rev. Nick Argeniteri, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Burial Estates, Mount Chestnut.
