Thelma M. Braun, 92, of Butler passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Butler Memorial Hospital. She was a resident of Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Butler, formerly of First Street.

Born August 31, 1924 in Glenshaw, Pa, she was a daughter of the late Albert F. and Agnes F. Cook Dressel.

Thelma's volunteer work began with the neighborhood fund drives for the March of Dimes, Leukemia Society and the Cancer and Heart Associations. She has served as a Den Leader with the Cub Scouts, a Brownie Leader and a representative to the community Girl Scout Organization. She was elected Minority Inspector for the Board of Elections and had participated in Election Day events. She has worked with the Respite Program which provides relief for caretakers of ill family members.

Thelma served as President and Secretary of the Butler County Deanery Council of Catholic Women. She also served several times as an officer on both the Pittsburgh Council of the DCCW and the St. Peter's Women Council. Thelma was the 1997 recipient of the John Cardinal Wright Award, presented by the Pittsburgh Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.

She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church.

Surviving are 3 sons: Clyde A. (Cynthia) Braun Jr. of Markleysburg, PA., Jeffrey A. (Lori) Braun of Butler and Eric A. (Nancy) Braun of Butler.

3 daughters: Philomena G. (Terry) Wasko of Lynchburg, Va., Jennifer A. Monaco of Butler and Alyssa C. (Dennis) Trivilino of Ellwood City; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Gerri Dressel of OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clyde A. Braun, Sr. who passed away February 25, 2016. They were married October 21, 1946. Her daughter, Victoria E. Braun, 2 grandchildren, a sister, Dolores Keasey and a brother, Donald Dressel.

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA. From 4-8 pm Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Friday at 10:00 am from St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin St. Butler, PA. 16001. Interment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.

The Women's Council of St. Peter will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church to recite the Rosary.
