Wilfred J. Adams

Wilfred J. Adams died on October 21 at his home that he built, cared for, and loved.

 He was born July 9, 1931 in Butler to the late George and Victoria Eyth Adams. After attending St. Wendelin School and Butler Area High School, Wilfred enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Alaska and Germany. He married Camilla Spohn on July 18, 1953 at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church where they were members throughout their 64 years of marriage. He retired from Western Auto Supply Co. and Culligan Water Conditioning in Butler. 

 Besides being among family members, Wilfred loved the outdoors and enjoyed bike riding with his wife, children, and grandchildren and was proud of his garden- especially his dogwood trees, apple and peach trees, vegetables, roses, and sunflowers.

In addition to his wife, Wilfred is survived by four children and their spouses including Pamela Williams and her husband John, Wilfred “Willie” J. Adams, Jr. and his wife Donna Sue, Cheryl Chiprean and her husband James, and Bradley Adams and his wife Leslie, and six grandchildren, Tara, Marc, Sara, Molly, Jack, and Aidan. He is also survived by his grandson’s wife Megan, three step-sons and their families, and two sisters, Georgia Kozalka of Kansas City, Missouri, and Emogene McGee of Birmingham, Alabama.

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Madeline Chiprean, as well as four brothers and three sisters.

Wilfred’s family would like to thank Fr. Harry Bielewicz and Sr. Nancy Schnur for their many visits and prayers through his illness. 

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street, Butler. The Rev. Harry Bielewicz, Pastor, will officiate. Internment will follow in St. Peter's Parish Cemetery.

St. Pauls Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church to recite the Rosary.
