William C. Thomas

William C. Thomas, 89, of Butler passed away Sunday, March 6, 2016 at his residence.

Born October 12, 1926 in Butler, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna (Michaels) Thomas.

He was employed by Armco Steel Corporation in the North processing Department, he retired in 1987, following 41 years service.

He was a member of St. Anthony Orthodox Church in Butler, where he served as past President of the Church Council for more than 20 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion post #778 in Lyndora. A lifetime member of the VFW post #249 in Butler and a lifetime member of the Slovak Club. He was a former member of the Butler Moose #64.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII, and the United States Army during the Korean War.

Surviving are his wife, Ann (Vavro) Thomas, whom he married February 12, 1947.

3 sons: William C. (Mary Ellen) Thomas, Jr. of VA.

John M. Thomas of Butler.

Albert P. (Marcia) Thomas of Butler.

6 grandchildren: Christine (Michael) Grossman, Shawn Thomas, Tammy mcKendree, Kimberly Ann (wes) Brubaker, Jessica Jane (Derek) Robertson and Sarah (Bill) Swarmer.

8 great grandchidren: Shawn Thomas, Jr., Amy, Abigail and Ashleigh Thomas, Justin and Ryan Grossman and Destony and Dasiy Walker.

1 great-great-granddaughter, Ariana Hudak.

1 brothers: James Thomas of Rochester of Gainsville, FL.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA, 16001 from 7-9 pm Tuesday. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday from the Funeral Home with Rev. Bogdan Bucur to officiate. Internment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
