On May 14, 2017, Lenora Brown Embroski, 91, formerly of Butler, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Oakton, Virginia. Born in Bonavista, Newfoundland, a province of Canada, she is predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Elizabeth Ford Brown of Bonavista, her brother George of Bonavista, her sisters Carrie Kooi, of Sacramento, California, and Rhoda Andrews of St. John’s, Newfoundland, and her beloved husband of 64 years, John Embroski of Butler who she met in 1950 while working for the United States Government at Argentia Naval Air Station and Fort McAndrew in Newfoundland.

Lenora was a military wife and homemaker who enjoyed family, friends and travel. She lived abroad for 28 years with her husband and traveled extensively throughout Europe and the Middle East before returning to the United States. She is survived by her brother, Ben Brown, of Ontario, Canada, and her son, Paul, his wife, Karen, and her four grandchildren, Lauren, Nicholas, Allison and Erin of Oakton. Lenora was loved by all who knew her and will be missed.

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Butler County Memorial Park.
