Mary Ellen Lewis, 83, of Butler passed away unexpectly Friday, September 14, 2018 at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born April 18, 1935 in St. Mary, PA, she was a daughter of the late Charles Cornetti, Sr. and Theresa Heasley Cornetti.
She had retired from Duquesne University as a secretary in the theology department following fifteen years service.
She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of St. Paul Christian Mothers.
Mary Ellen was a member of the Sunrise Bowling League at Sherwood, the Sunrise Golf League at Stoughton Golf and the Lake Arthur Golf League. Additionally, she was a member of the Butler Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed attending Bridge Club with her friends.
Surviving is her husband, Clarence Lewis, whom she married January 22, 1955.
Five children: Linda Brandenburg, Lisa (Marc) Conklin, Bradley (Cynthia) Lewis, Lori (Scott) Altman and Scott (Jessica) Lewis, all of Butler.
Eleven grandchildren: Bret Iannotti, Ashlee Robison, Cody Conklin, Kayla Conklin, Kayla Mack, Melissa Campbell, Crysta Heeter, Emilee Altman, Alison Altman, Meghan Lewis and Madalyne Lewis.
Three great-grandchilden: Harper Robison, Wyatt Mack and Henlee Robison.
Two brothers: Thomas (Lynda) Cornetti of Herman and Dale (Vicki) Cornetti of Boyers.
Her sister, Karen Hinderliter of East Butler.
A brother-in-law, Ralph Boosel.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Cornetti, Jr. Nephew, Brian Cornetti and a niece Sherry Cornetti.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA 16001 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 am from St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean St. Butler. Rev. Harry Bielewicz, Pastor, to officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery in Herman.
St. Pauls Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:30 am Wednesday at the church to recite the Rosary.
