Wilbert M. Widenhofer, 90, of Butler, died Tuesday evening, September 19, 2017, at the V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice.

Born October 31, 1926 in Butler, Joseph F. Widenhofer and Eleanor Cramer Widenhofer.

He graduated from High School, attended the Pittsburgh School of Aeronautics and had worked at Butler County Ford as foreman for the truck garage for 46 years retiring in 1991. He then returned to work part time for Butler County Ford until 2016.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman, the V.F.W. #249, the RC Mens Club, the Butler Automotive Bowling League and the Herman Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and also participating and helping with functions at St. Mary's Church, including their fish frys.

A Veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corp, and then the United States Air Force reserves from 1945 until 1986.

He will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Agnes E. Smith, whom he married June 6, 1981.

2 sons: David M. (Barbara) Widenhofer of Fenelton and Scott E. Widenhofer of Collegeville, PA.

6 step children: Cheryl (Dennis) Schnur Wist of Gibsonia; Constance (Paul) Schnur Bopp of Butler; Charlene (Jeff) Schnur Roth of Butler; Edward Schnur of Zelienople; Regis (Jean) Schnur of Butler; Anthony (Sue) Schnur of Houston, TX.

4 grandchildren: Shawn W. (Sharon) Widenhofer; Stacey (Paul) Widenhofer; Anne Widenhofer; Sam Widenhofer.

20 step grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

2 sisters: Mary Catherine Fello of Pittsburgh and Ethelreda Welter of Chicora.

1 brother, Gene (Shirley) Widenhofer of Butler.

1 step sister, Joan Nicro of New York.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Therisa Colley Widenhofer, she died April 6, 1976; a step daughter, Carrie Lee Schnur, she died in 1981; 3 brothers, Gerald, Leroy and Joe Widenhofer; 1 step brother, William Gregory.

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, and from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church on Herman. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary's Parish Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers, Donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, 821 Herman Road, Butler, PA 16002.
