Charles J. Trainor, 91, of Penn Township, peacefully passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020, in the comfort of his home.
Born September 10, 1929 in McKeesport, PA, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Della Trainor.
Charles graduated from Duquesne High School in 1947 and went on to graduate from Duquesne University’s School of Pharmacy in 1951 where he was awarded the distinction of Honored Alumnus.
Charles married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann (Ackerman), in 1954.
Charles was the owner of Saxonburg Drug Store for over 40 years where he built a business he passed along to his daughter. He loved the Saxonburg community and proudly worked to invigorate the downtown district.
Some of Charles’ favorite times in life were sailing at Moraine State Park and skiing at his beloved Seven Springs. He was at his happiest sharing these activities with his wife, Shirley, his children and grandchildren.
Charles leaves behind his children Maura Brown (Pittsburgh), David Trainor (Butler), Megan Trainor (Butler), Erin Burdette (Houston), Laureen Licastro (Sewickley) and his brother, Donald Trainor (Myrtle Beach, SC). Cherishing his memory are his grandchildren Justin Trainor, Melissa Isaac, David Burdette, Shane Burdette, Frank Brown and Meredith Brown and his great grandchildren Emma and Maddon Isaac. Charles was preceded in death by Shirley Ann, his wife of 59 years, his daughter, Patrice Lynn, his brother Lawrence Trainor and his sister LaVerne Furlong.
The Trainor family is extremely grateful for the care provided to Charles by the staff of Senior Helpers.
Services will be held privately and are under the direction of Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler.
