Dr. Mark D. Baker, DO, 71 of Butler, passed away, Sunday evening, February 6, 2022, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born October 30, 1950 in Connellsville, PA, he was a son of the late Donald M. Baker and Betty Jean (Harvey) Baker.
Mark graduated from Connellsville High School in 1969, also the University of Pittsburgh in 1972, before graduating in 1976 from Medical School at the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. He was Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and had worked as an Emergency Room Physician at the Butler Memorial Hospital and then at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, retiring after more than 30 years.
He was a volunteer fireman for the Fire Department #8 in Greensburg, was very artistic as he enjoyed painting and writing, liked antiquing, and had loved his dogs.
Surviving is his wife, DeNise J. (Pasco) Baker, whom he married August 19, 1977.
His daughters, Dr. Courtney Baker, DO of Mars and Abigail L. (Anthony) Karakkal, JD,BSN of Easton, PA.
1 granddaughter, Angela C. Karakkal.
2 sisters, Bonnie Baker of Greensburg and Barbara Lang of Pittsburgh.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm Thursday.
