Frederick J. Berns, 78, of Butler, passed away, Sunday evening, February 21, 2021, in the comfort of his home.
Born June 6, 1942 in Braddock, PA, he was a son of the late Henry John Berns and Gertude Helen (Bahler) Berns.
Fred had lived in Castle Shannon, PA from 1968 until moving to Butler in 1985. He had worked in sales and was also assistant manager for Pinkerton Goodyear for 23 years, retiring in August of 2008. He was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler, also the Tanglewood Senior Center, had enjoyed camping and woodworking and had volunteered for the Butler Meals on Wheels.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Surviving is his wife, Sheila C. (Corbett) Berns, whom he married September 10, 1966.
3 children: Wendy Berns of Butler, Barbara (Albert) Sarvey of Butler and Glen (Stephanie) Berns of Shaler.
3 granddaughters: Hannah, Allie and Maggie Sarvey.
Numerous nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 10:00 am, at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin Street, Butler.
