Gerard C. Green a retired employee of The Western Pennsylvania Water Company and a lifelong residence of Herman, passed away on June 6th at age 85, after a courageous battle with lewy body dementia.
Gerard or Crock as he was known, was a devoted Roman Catholic, family man and a gifted trades man.
He acquired skills in plumbing, carpentry, painting, mechanics and could fix, repair or remodeled most anything.
He shared his talents with family, friends, his church and others in the community. He enjoyed gardening raising a variety of fruits and vegetables.
He is a former member of the US Army, life member of Herman volunteer Fire Department and St Mary’s of the Assumption.
Gerard is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine. Sister Grace Kriley, Brother Rege and wife Patty. Son, John, & wife Lynn, granddaughters, Kelli & Catherine and her husband Timothy Stone. Daughter June Helch & husband Rick, granddaughter, Melissa Lewetag & grandson, Erik Lewetag. Daughter, Judy Atkinson and husband Mark, grandson Christopher Hill & wife Sis, great-grandson, Landon, Cody & Mason. Grandson, Joey. Daughter Shirley & husband John Green, granddaughter, Jamie De Falco & husband Chris. Granddaughter Katie Lias & husband Brandon, great granddaughter Emma Mae, grandson Jonathan & Emily, great granddaughter, Norah. And granddaughter Elizabeth. Daughter Lorie Wizorek & husband Larry, granddaughter Nicole, Stephanie, Melanie Cummings and husband Greg, & Julie, Son Gerard Jr. & granddaughter, Caite and great grandson Noah. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerard is proceeded in death, by his parents, Norbert & Clara Green, sisters Dorothy & Rita, brothers, Norbert, Bernard, Jerome, Joseph, Tony, Aloysius & Vincent. Daughter Dianne Green, grandson Stephen Green and great grandson Leo Thomas Cummings.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA 16001 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Thursday at St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Road, Butler, PA 16001. jRev. Ward Stakem, Pastor, to officiate. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery.
