James R. Monteleone, 89, of Butler, died Sunday evening, August 12, 2018, at the V.N.A. Inpatient Hospice.
Born February 25, 1929 in Butler, he was a son of the late Dominic Monteleone and Antoinette (Zaccari) Monteleone.
He was a 1947 graduate of Butler High School and retired in 1988 from the Silicon Department of the Armco Steel Plant following 38 years. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Italian Club, was active in the Butler Cubs ASA, where he played on their semi pro football team and enjoyed watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the United States Army.
Surviving are his 2 sons, James R. (Joanna) Monteleone, Jr. of Cranberry Township and David L. (Debra) Monteleone of Butler.
5 grandchildren: David, Nick, Michael and Alex Monteleone; Jessie (Mark) Sanford.
2 great granddaughters: Jordan and Emerson Monteleone.
3 brothers: Joseph (Josephine) Monteleone, Peppy (Paula) Monteleone and Art (Peggy) Monteleone, all of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rena M. (Spinetti) Monteleone, whom he married September 12, 1953, she died January 1, 2017.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Buitler, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Avenue, Butler.
