Janet Mascia Obituary

Janet Lee Mascia, 81, of Butler, passed away, Wednesday February 14, 2024, in the comfort of her home.

She was born May 5, 1942 in Castle Shannon, PA, a daughter of the late John O’Farrell and Anna (Norbet) O’Farrell.

Janet attended St. Ann’s Grade School and graduated from St. Francis Academy.  She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, the Butler Garden Club, also the Jr. Womens Club, where she had been past woman of the year, the Butler Country Club and had been president of the Candy Stripers at the Butler Memorial Hospital.

Her family would like to extend a special thanks to Toni Grupp and staff, Dr. William C. DiCuccio, Dr. Chaudry and Shannon Altpeter at Hillman Cancer Center, also Dr. Allan Tsung at Shadyside Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dr. Jack E. Mascia.

1 son, Christopher John Mascia.

1 granddaughter, Avery Lee Mascia.

2 brothers, John O’Farrell and Tom (Cathy) O’Farrell.

3 sisters, Patricia Sharek, Christine O’Farrell and Maureen (Nelson) McMullen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David E. Mascia; brothers, James (Beverly) O’Farrell and Timothy O’Farrell; 1 sister, Marquette White; brothers-in-law, Raymond White and Stanley Sharek.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 11;00 am, at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road in Meridian.  Inurnment will be in the Mausoleum of Calvary Cemetery, Butler.  Arrangements by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler.

Donations may be sent the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
