Joan C. Geibel, 90, of Butler passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 24th at The Arbors at Saint Barnabas, Valencia Campus.
Born in Butler on March 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ruth and Zeno Leech.
A lifelong resident of Butler, Joan was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed hosting parties and picnics for family and friends. She was an avid reader and loved shopping. She especially enjoyed vacations at the beach with family or friends. Joan was a lifelong parishioner of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
Joan is survived by her three children: Diane (Geibel) Straley and husband, Bill Straley, of New Franklin, OH; William Geibel and wife, Theodosia Regal, of Butler and Jay Geibel and wife, Beth Geibel, of Pittsburgh. She is also survived by her cherished granddaughter, Leah (Geibel) Hainebach and husband, Clayton Hainebach, of Juneau, AK, her brother, David Leech and wife, Gladys Leech, of Butler, her brother, Donald Leech of Albuquerque, NM, two nieces and four nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Donald J. Geibel, who died June 18, 2014.
She also leaves behind a loving, “second”, family at The Arbors. The exceptional care she received while at St. Barnabas was a blessing for both her and her family.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Paul Church and burial was at Calvary Cemetery.
