Mabel L. Weiland, 96, of Butler, passed away Friday afternoon, June 24, 2022, while residing at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot. She had formerly lived on Bonniebrook Road for more than 40 years.
Born January 31, 1926 in Penn Township, she was a daughter of the late William J. Graham and Ethel M. (Young) Graham.
Mabel was a graduate of Butler High School, was a homemaker and mother, and had worked for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Clare Parish, St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing, playing in the Hiland and Lake Arthur ladies leagues. She enjoyed her time with the friends she made at the Arbors in Butler and her winter stays in Florida. Her greatest joy in life was caring for family and friends.
Surviving are her children: Louise (George) Lineman, Ethel (William) Miller, Kenneth Weiland, Michael (Cheryl) Weiland, Marian (Jack) West, Dean Weiland, Patricia (Joseph) Stehle, John (Janet) Weiland, Merle (Paris) Weiland, Jackie (Michael) O’Donnell, Barbara (Chris) Pastrick; and daughter-in-law Mary Lu (Eury) Weiland.
33 grandchildren, over 50 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle H. Weiland Sr., who passed away October 30, 1983; 1 son, David; 2 grandsons Dan and Andrew; grandson-in-law Tony; 2 daughters-in-law Mary and Jodi; 8 brothers and 4 sisters.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 11 a.m. at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Chicora. The Rev. Matt McClain, Pastor to officiate. Interment will be in St. Wendelin Parish Cemetery.
