Michael A. Stypula, 93, of Butler, passed away, December 30, 2020, at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born June 6, 1927 in Crucible, PA, he was a son of the late Michael Stypula, Sr. and Rose (Leja) Stypula.
Michael was a retired motor inspector, having worked 28 years until the plant closed at the U.S. Steel Sintering Plant in Saxonburg. He was former Recording Secretary for the Butler County Labor Council until 1980 for the U.S.W. Local #5768. He was a member of the Steelworker S.O.A.R. Organization and also St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Butler.
A veteran of World War II, Michael served in the United States Army.
Surviving is his wife, Sylvia (Bee) Stypula, whom he married April 30, 1955.
3 daughters: Michelle Cahlin of Butler, Diane (Robert) Selfridge of Butler, Elaine Stypula of St. Clair Shores, Michigan.
5 grandchildren: Rachel Miller, Steven (Wendy) Denny, Erin Larson, Anna Larson and Isabelle Larson.
3 great grandchildren: Owen, Patrick and Larkin Denny.
1 brother, Joseph Stypula of Ohio.
2 sisters: Mary Abrams and Martha Yandura, both of Ohio.
Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 9:00 am until 10:30 am Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Franklin Street, Butler. Interment will be in St. Peter's Parish Cemetery.
Everyone attending is required to provide and wear a facial covering, also practice social distancing. Groups limited to 10 people.
