Ruth E. Orlowsky, 79, of Butler, passed away on Monday May 9, 2022.
Born November 5, 1942 in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Tony S. Yurkovich and Mary (Cygan) Yurkovich.
Ruth worked for Armco Steel in Butler as an administrative assistant. She retired after 25 years of service. Ruth served on the Board of Directors for the Butler Armco Employees Credit Union for 28 years. She was a member of the Armco Women’s Club, also All Saints Parish, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. Prior to that she was a member of the former St. John Roman Catholic Church and St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, both in Lyndora, where she had been a Eucharistic Minister. Through her participation in the Beta Sigma Phi business sorority she made many lifelong friends. In her youth, she enjoyed marching with the Lyndora Girl’s Drum and Bugle Corp. Ruth enjoyed reading, walking with her sister and friend Donna, as well as traveling in her free time.
Ruth volunteered with many organizations including Monday Morning Maintenance Group at Preston Park, Patient Escort for the Butler VA Hospital, making pirohi for Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church and working at the All Saints Fish Fry.
Ruth married Dennis G. Orlowsky on September 15, 1979. He passed away on November 7, 1995.
Surviving is her loving and caring sister, Mary Ann Yurkovich.
In addition to her sister she is survived by her aunts Helen Puvak, Ruth Cygan, Dorothy Cygan, Gladys Martin, Norma Cygan, Margaret Yurkovich, Dorothy Yurkovich and her uncle Emilio Russo as well as numerous cousins.
Preceding her in death are her aunts Catherine Daugherty, Ann Russo, Barbara Lavorini and Betty York, and uncles Michael Cygan, John Cygan, Andrew Puvak, Andy Cygan, George Cygan, Slavi York, Frank Yurkovich and William Yurkovich.
Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 10:00 am, at St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church in Meridian. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Butler. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to The Brother’s Brother Foundation at 1200 Galveston Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15233.
