Ruth Swigart Obituary

Ruth L. Swigart, 87, of Butler, passed away, Friday, March 26, 2021, at the Orchards of Saxonburg.

Born September 9, 1933 in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Willis A. Selfridge and Cecelia F. (McAllen) Selfridge.

Ruth had worked as an operator for Bell Telephone for 25 years and then after retiring for Penn Champ in East Butler.

She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, the space bowling league and card club. She enjoyed gardening, working outdoors, reading books, watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, and when younger shooting archery. She loved her dogs and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving is her great nephew and his family, who were her caretakers, Rob, Kim, Amber and Emily Selfridge of Butler.

2 nephews: Carl (Carol) Selfridge of Prospect and Bill (Judy) Hohman of St. Petersburg, FL.

1 niece, Karen Neyman of Saxonburg.

Her great neighbors, the Davis family.

Also several great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund F. Swigart, whom she married April 16, 1955, he passed August 21, 2008; 2 sisters, Hazel Myers and Helen Hohman; 1 brother, Carl Selfridge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 North McKean Street, Butler. Inurnment will be in Butler County Memorial Park.

Arrangements by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler.

Donations are requested to be made to the Butler County Humane Society, 1015 Evans City Road, Renfrew, PA 16053.
