Stephen Yalshevec Obituary

Stephen P. Yalshevec, 95, of Butler, passed away on January 10, 2023.

He was born January 26, 1927 a son of the late Victor and Anne (Senko) Yalshevec, he was one of 10 children and grew up in Lyndora with many family and friends.

Steve was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in World War II.  Upon returning to Butler, Steve worked at Pullman Standard and then went to Design and Drafting school.  Steve had various jobs in that field, the longest being in the Cleveland area with a division of Union Carbide, retiring at age 55.

Steve enjoyed fishing, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers above the Cleveland browns, Arizona trips to see his brother Joe, playing on the Lyndora Hornets football team in his youth and seeing his family.  He was a member of All Saints Parish for many years and was a key person in the construction of the hall at the American Legion Post #778 in Lyndora.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters Mary Yovanovich, Ann Redick, Frances Homa, Frank Yalshevec, Joseph Yalshevec, Helen Delaney, Sophie Homa, Olga Yalshevec and Rosella Yalshevec.

Steve is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, at 10:00 am, St. Conrad Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road in Meridian.  Interment will Military Honors to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.
