We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Geibel Funeral Home
“My family is my greatest treasure” was the quote Viola “Min” Green left for her family to read. Min passed peacefully at Magnolia Place of Saxonburg on May 19, 2022 at age 90. Born in West Winfield to the late Louis and Mary (Dovjak) Varljen on October 24, 1931, she was a life-long resident of Butler. She celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary to Aloysius “Skip” Green prior to his passing in 2013. They raised their close-knit family near Herman.
Min was passionate about her Catholic faith. She was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish (now St. Francis of Assisi). She was a Eucharistic Minister for many years and continued this ministry for her fellow Magnolia residents. She was a member of the People of God prayer group.
Her memory lives on in her six children: David (Paula) Green of Bluffton, SC; Barbara (Frank) Pinto, of Leland, NC; Susan Green of Norristown, PA; Beth (John) Perri of Maple Glen, PA; Donald (Diane) Green of Crittenden, KY; Amy (David) Gallagher of Butler.
15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren survive her, as well as her brothers Frank and Lou Varljen, also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brothers Leo and John, sisters Mary Heist, Emma Michalski and Tillie Wolfe.
Friends will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler on Friday, May 27, from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary’s, Herman will be said at 1:00 pm Saturday, with Fr. Ward Stakem officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Min requested memorial donations be made to Osprey Village, PO Box 3155, Bluffton, SC 29910.
