Virginia L. Smith, 80 of Cleveland, OH, formerly of Butler, PA passed away in the early morning hours of Monday, May 9, 2022.
Virginia was a sister to 8, a mother to 2, grandmother to 6 and great grandmother to 5 (soon to be 6). She was born in Butler County on September 21, 1941, the daughter of Anna Margaret Beck (Anna Margaret Wise) and George Harold Beck. She married Charles D. Smith in 1960 who went on to work in Cleveland Ohio for the railroad where they raised two boys before retiring to Columbiana, OH in the 1990’s. Virginia loved to gather family and friends especially for the holidays. She was a kind-hearted woman with a recognizable voice and one-of-a-kind laugh. She welcomed her friends as family and took many trips to places like Las Vegas and California before her stroke in 2006 which left her with limited mobility and speech. Despite this, Virginia’s spirits remained high. Her favorite phrase later in life was, “I’m ok.” with a Cheerful and Lovable laugh. Even when she was feeling a little down, she would continue to grace those around her with her happy demeanor, friendly smile, and loveable laugh. She was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her sons Drew (Vicky) Smith Euclid, OH and Tim (Rita) Smith Eastlake, OH. Her grandchildren Alicia (Kyle) McKrill, Samatha (Chip) Flynn, Amanda (James) Hamrle, Preston Smith, Adam (Kara) Smith, and Cassandra Smith. Her great Grandchildren Isabella (13), Charles (4), Kaiden (4), Jaxson (2), and Karter (2). She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 am.
