Walter K. Dunmyre, 86, of Butler, passed away, Thursday, May 5, 2022, at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Walter was born in Brady’s Bend on November 21, 1935 to the late James and Julia (Zamberlan) Dunmyre. He resided most of his life in Brady’s Bend where his favorite pastimes were boating on the Allegheny and hunting deer and small game. After graduating from East Brady High School in 1953, he worked various jobs loading limestone barges, working for a plaster contractor and C.A. Snyder Pontiac garage in Butler. In 1955, Walter started at Magnetics in East Butler, where he was employed for 11 years including a 2 year service time in the Marines as a small-arms instructor. In 1966 he was hired at the Armco Steel Plant where he retired from the Silicon Dept. in 1996. After retiring, Walt was employed for 20 years as a school bus driver for Shriver Bus Co. in Armstrong Co. and Valley Lines Bus Co. after moving to Butler.
Walter was married in 1970 to Mary Ann Angert. Using their timeshare, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. His granddaughter, Julia and step-grandson, Trae brought much joy to “papa’s” life and he was a devoted father to his daughter, Allison.
Walter was a member the Bantam Marine Corp league in Butler, also St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Brady’s Bend and All Saints Parish, St. Conrad R.C. Church in Meridian after moving to Butler in 2011.
He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, daughter Allison (Mike) Sloan, granddaughter Julia Bonetti and step-grandson Trae Sloan, sister-in-law, Jean Dunmyre of Clarion, also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an older brother, James Ervin Dunmyre, sisters Dorothy Lekas of Reno, Nevada and Shirley Heginbotham of East Brady, 2 nephews Tom Angert and Richard Heginbotham.

Family and friends will gather at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street, Butler, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Services will follow at 12:00 noon at the Funeral Home. Deacon Mitch Natali to officiate.
