Walter Walowen, age 90, of Aurora, Colorado passed away on October 9, 2019 after a brief illness.
He was born in Butler, PA where he lived until he graduated from Butler High School and Joined the US Navy where he served for 30 year, including two tours of duty in Vietnam aboard the USS Boston. He and his family of six lived in many places while in the Navy, including Massachusetts, Texas, Alaska and Puerto Rico. Retiring in Aurora, Colorado afforded him the opportunity to pursue his favorite hobbies, hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores Marie (Ondrizek) Walowen, a son, Charles Francis Walowen, a daughter, Gemma Marie Walowen and a second wife, Lila Mae (Grubaugh) Walowen, a brother, George Walowen, a brother, Victor Walowen and a brother, Frank Walowen.
Surviving are a son, Allen George Walowen of Englewood, Colorado, a son, Walter J. (Pamela) Walowen of Harbeson, Delaware, a granddaughter, Amy Allison Walowen of Delaware, a sister, Olga Cochran of Butler, Pennsyvania, a sister Nellie Kuzmenchuk of Tabernacle, New Jersey and a sister, Mary Ann Zulich of Butler, Pennsylvania, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held in the chapel of Calvary Cemetery in Butler, PA at 10:00 am on Friday November 1, 2019. Deacon Mitch Natali will officiate. Interment, including full military honors will follow the service. Arrangements completed by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham St. Butler, PA 16001.
