My two children Mike and Julie Bester had the great fortune of having Pat Gavula as theirfourthgrade teacher. I'm forever indebted to Pat for her qualities as an educator and human being. During the year she taught my daughter I,too, was teaching fourth grade. We had fun sharing some projects and materials. Of all the teachers that my children had in school, she was remembered by them. That is very rare because most children forget who they had as teachers in the elementary years....in Pat's case, I am positive she was remembered by many. My deepest sympathy to the Gavula family....and especially Jenn who I have contacts with in my current school setting.

I Just wanted to express my sympathy to the family of Mrs. Gavula, my fourth grade teacher at Center TWP. School. One of my favorite memories is of her reading to us after lunch every day. I am still an avid reader. I also have the memory of my father taking me to her wedding ceremony and I think I remember that there was snow on the ground . I also think she carried a fur muff? Or maybe the bridesmaids did? I was fortunate to see her several years ago at the outpatient surgery dept. at Butler Hsp.
I can't remember whether she was patient or visitor but I enjoyed seeing her. I have been a nurse at the hsp. for 36 years. I am glad you have so many wonderful memories of her.

I am so sad to learn of Pat's passing. She & I graduated together from BHS & SRU. I was
thrilled that one of my children was in her 4th grade class at Center Twp. where she was an excellent teacher. Please accept my sympathy and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Your wife and mom was one of my favorite teachers growing up! I will never forget her kindness and her sticker cards... us kids used to get so excited to get a sticker. I am so sorry to hear of her illness and passing. From the sounds of it, she was incredibly loved. Hang on to your memories.

Mr. Gavula, Jenny and "little Richie," The memories I have for your mother and family (& extended family) go back as far as I can remember on Havenhill Drive. Every season, every school year, every holiday (including every holiday meal!)... my childhood would not have been complete without your mother and I don't have enough words to express my sincere sympathies to your sweet family. I wish I could be there right now because we'd be going through all those photos and memories just reminiscing about all the people she influenced one way or another. Truly missing you all, Lynn (Kredel) Hallaba

The entire Gavula family is in my prayers and thoughts. I have such fond memories of travelling with Pat, Richard and Barb over the years with the PA State System Travel Program, as well as our periodic email communications (especially the jokes) and phone calls over the years. I will truly miss her fun personality, her warm smile, her sense of caring, her thoughtfulness, and her sense of humor. Thanks for the memories Pat; I'm glad I got to meet you, travel with you, and most importantly call you my friend!

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mrs. Gavula was my teacher way back in the 1980s and I literally was just thinking of her the other day when a memory from that time popped up of her dressing up as a punk rocker one day (not sure of the reason she did that) but she wore a rainbow colored wig, dark glasses and a jean jacket with a white shirt. She was a wonderful teacher who taught me more than just academics.
