Thomas J. Walsh

Thomas J (Tom) Walsh of Granger, Indiana, formerly of Butler passed away Monday August 22 at Cleveland Clinic. He was the son of the late Walter and Mabel Young Walsh.

Tom graduated from Butler Senior High School, Class of 1966, received his Associate Degree at Butler County Community College and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Robert Morris University. He retired from PNC Bank in 2015 as a Financial Advisor.

While in high school he was a member of the Varsity Basketball Team and was looking forward to attending his 50th Class Reunion in September.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served his country for 6 years.

While living in Butler he served as the Commissioner of Baseball for the Prospect Boys Club . For the past nine years he was a volunteer at the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center at Notre Dame, Indiana.

Tom was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church in Granger, Indiana and a former member of St. Paul R.C. Church in Butler.

Tom was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He married his high school sweetheart, Rosemarie (Honey) Herman Walsh. Tom and Rosemarie would have celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary on August 23. He was loved and cherished by all who were lucky enough to be part of his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never failed to give those around him a good laugh. He was a source of strength and kindness to many. His life could be reflected most by referring to his favorite song of all times,” What A Wonderful World”.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie, sons, Timothy, Daniel and his grandson, Austin, his sisters; Jeanette (Willie)Edwards, Carol (Donald) Osgood and Eileen (Thomas) Scott, his best friends, Lonnie and Dorie Nichols. He is also survived by one Aunt, Ethel Young, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation for Thomas (Tom) J. Walsh will be on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 East Cunningham Street from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Paul’s Roman Church 128 North McKean Street on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. Internment to follow at Butler County Memorial Park.

St. Paul's Catholic Women and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church to recite the Rosary.
